Edward J. Laughner, age 70, of Philipsburg, PA, formerly of Akron, OH, and in his younger years of the village of Mt. Chestnut, passed away August 11, 2017 after a long illness.
Born November 11, 1946 in Butler, he was the son of the late Jack V. and Helen Jerry Laughner.
He was Presbyterian by faith.
Ed was a 1964 graduate of Slippery Rock High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Youngstown University, and his Master Degrees from Ohio State University and Kent State University. He was a faculty Emeritus of the University of Akron.
He is survived by his siblings Margaret (Larry) Martz of Port Matilda, PA and Richard (Esta Mae) Laughner of Butler; his niece Jamie (Nicholas) DeWitt and his nephew Jesse Laughner.
Cremation services were entrusted to the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main Street, Prospect.
The family is planning a memorial service at a later date with interment in the Mt. Chestnut Cemetery.
