William Edwin Tirk, Jr, age 83, of Butler, passed away Wednesday evening, April 12, 2017, at Sunnyview Nursing Home, Butler.
Born January 2, 1934 in Butler, he was the son of the late William E. and Bessie Mae Daugherty Tirk, Sr.
William retired as a foreman from Castle Rubber in East Butler.
He was a veteran of the US Army, where he faithfully served his country from 1956 to 1962.
He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Butler. He enjoyed mowing grass, the outdoors, animals, and visiting family while sitting on his porch swing.
He is survived by his brother Joseph (Kay) Tirk of Butler, his sister Jane (Ronald) Waldenmyer of Texas and Butler, and twelve nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother George Tirk and his sister Rita Shuller.
A family graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday at Greenlawn Burial Estates, with Rev. Mathew Kail, pastor at Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1114 Sunset Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
