George Gilbertsen, age 71, of Butler, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 15, 2019, at his residence.
Born April 19, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Alfred and Viola Walsh Gilbertsen.
George was a US Navy Veteran, who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
He retired as a diesel mechanic from Hindman Transportation in Butler.
He loved interaction with kids because he was a kid at heart, and enjoyed coaching little league baseball and All Star baseball teams for over 20 years in Ford City.
Survived by his wife: Sandra Lee Stewart Gilbertsen, who he married March 13, 1998; his children Bryan (Casey) Gilbertsen of Ford City, Michael Gilbertsen, Miranda (Matthew) Maldonado of Springhill, FL, Olivia, Adam, Emily, and Hannah Gilbertsen all of Butler; many grandchildren; his siblings Roy Gilbertsen of FL, Walt (Toney) Gilbertsen of NC, Billy (Grace) Gilbertsen of NY, Eddie Gilbertsen of Fl, Jerry Gilbertsen of NY, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Jennett Scutt, Tom Gilbertsen, Bob Gilbertsen, and Alfred Gilbertsen.
A Memorial Service will be on January 26, 2019, 12:30PM at the First Baptist Church in Ford City, PA.
