Harold Lee Cross, age 87, of Butler, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 12, 2018 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.
Born April 14, 1931 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Samuel Clarence and Sara Anna Conway Cross.
He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Butler and the former Connoquennessing Odd Fellows Lodge #278.
Harold retired from the maintenance department at Slippery Rock University, and had first worked in maintenance at Slippery Rock High School. He was also a dairy farmer.
His hobbies were collecting four leaf clovers, collecting arrowheads, and chip carving. He was a member of the National Wood Carvers Association.
He is survived by his wife Thelma Jean Graff Cross, who he married June 9, 1953, his three daughters: Judy (Dr. James) Byers of Butler, Linda (James) Hagar of Colorado, Janet (James) Weaver of Jackson Center; Grandchildren Beth (Dustin) Hartle of Pittsburgh, Brian (Kaylie) Walters of Meridian, J.J. Byers of Pittsburgh, great grandchildren Nathan Hartle, and Bradly Hartle; his brother Donald (Audrey) Cross of Huntingdon, Pa, and nephew Robert (Mary Jo) Cross of Danville, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Norma Jean Cross.
Private services were held Friday morning at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home by the family, with his pastor Rev. Kimberly van Driel, of First English Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment followed in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.
