Earl L. Phipps

Earl L. Phipps, age 84, of Prospect passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015, in the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born December 29, 1930 in Butler, he was the son of the late Paul V. and Nellie I. Heckard Phipps.

He was Presbyterian by faith and he enjoyed hunting.

Earl was a US Army Veteran, who proudly served his country during the Korean War.

After 38 years, he was retired from Butler Armco, now AK Steel.

He is survived by two sons:  Donald Phipps of Prospect, James (Elena) Phipps of Buffalo, NY; three grandchildren:  Joshua (Bobbie Jo) Phipps of Harmony, Tyler Phipps of Sydney, Australia, and Kayla Phipps of Buffalo, NY; one great grandson Jaden Phipps of Harmony, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Viola Mae Phipps, whom he married July 17, 1951 and passed away June 10, 2006, and a number of brothers and sisters.

Friends will be received from 2pm—5pm on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main Street, Prospect.  The funeral service will be 11am Monday in the funeral home, with Rev. Steve Cort, Pastor of Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial with military honors will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
