Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Thompson Herold, age 80, of Prospect, peacefully passed away Wednesday evening, January 6, 2021 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side, following an illness.
Born June 27, 1940 in Slippery Rock, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Amy McConnell Thompson.
She was a faithful member of The Presbyterian Church of Prospect, where she attended Sunday School Classes, Bible Studies, and Church dinners. She was a former Deacon, volunteered at Bible Schools, and started the Cup of Friendship Women’s Fellowship Group. She had many friends and enjoyed going to the Mt Chestnut Senior Center.
Beginning in the 1990’s, she worked for 11 years at the United States Post Office in Prospect as the Janitor.
In her younger years, along with her husband, she enjoyed motorcycle riding, traveling by airplane, and then traveling on many adventures in their motorhome. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafts, gardening, and tending to her beautiful flower beds.
She always said “Her greatest blessing was knowing the Lord has been with her, her entire life, no matter where she had been and He will see her home to be with Him”
She is survived by her children Charlene (John) Eckert of Butler and Jeffrey (Dana) Herold of Slippery Rock; four grandchildren Dustin (Kara) Eckert, Amanda (Matthew) Scott, Mackenzie Herold, Max Herold; four great grandchildren Sierra Eckert, Dustin (Crystal) Eckert, Greyson Scott, Caleb Clarence Eckert; one great great granddaughter Briella Premdas; and step great great grandchildren Vanessa and Nick; siblings Mary Wilson, Erma (Robert) McKnight, and James (Diane) Thompson.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence Herold, who she married June 28, 1958 and passed away October 12, 2011; grandson John Eckert, Jr; sister Eleanor Thompson; sister in law Veva Martsolf; and brother in laws Tom, Roy, and John Herold.
Visitation, with covid19 restrictions, will be on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 1pm to 4pm at the Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, PC., 387 Main Street, Prospect.
The funeral will be on Monday, January 11, 2021, viewing 10am til time of service at 11am in The Presbyterian Church of Prospect, 115 Church Street, with Rev. Larry Maley and Rev. Ron Schermerhorn co-officiating.
Interment in Crown Hill Cemetery, Prospect.
