Galen Wayne Albert, II, age 73, of Prospect, passed away Tuesday, December 02, 2014, in the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

Born March 5, 1941 in Butler, he was the son of the late Galen Wayne and June Lois Boring Albert.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect.

Retiring after 40 years from the former Butler Armco Steel, where he worked as a machinist in the maintenance shop, and later worked in the tool room.

Galen was one of the founding members and a past President of the Prospect Boys and Girls Club.  He enjoyed coaching baseball and then became a baseball umpire.

He was one of the founding members of the Prospect Area Preservation Society, where he enjoyed volunteering at the annual Rube’s Run 5K Race fundraiser.

Galen cherished spending time with his loving grandchildren.   He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, backpacking and hiking.

He was a member of the Oakview Golf Club, and the former Armco Country Club.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Carol Wilson Albert, whom he married October 17, 1982; his children:  Kurt (Shelley) Albert of Butler; Lisa Jones of Prospect; Matthew (Tracy) Albert of Parker; Annett (Richard) Koch of Prospect; Gary Oakman of Girard, OH; his grandchildren:  Joshua Albert, Madeline Albert, Caitlin Jones, Emily Jones, Cale Jones, Samantha Albert, Chaz (Amanda) Smith, Brianna Eiler, Larissa Koch, and Nick Koch; two sisters:  Diane (Dave) Miller of Karns City, Susan Penna of Emlenton, his dog “Baby”, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant children Galen Lance, Linda Diane, and his brother Charles Albert.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 1pm to 6pm at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main Street, Prospect.  The funeral service will be held at 6pm, in the Raisley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gary Brown, his church pastor officiating.

Interment in Crown Hill Cemetery, Prospect will be private.
