Mary Virginia Young, age 95, of Portersville, peacefully passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Kadima at Harmony,
Born June 17, 1929 in Portersville, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence Frazier Young.
She was a member of the Mountville Presbyterian Church, where she previously taught Sunday School, led the Youth Group, was the Church treasurer for many years, and served as a former Elder on church session.
After 43 years, Mary retired from Marmon Keystone in Butler.
Mary was a member of the Soroptimist Woman’s Club and the Christian Woman’s Club. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and was proud to say she traveled the 48 contiguous states.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews Debbie (Joe) Minton of Saxonburg, Polly (Bob) Palermo of Butler, Lisa (Bob) McCandless, of Butler, Laurie Lach of Columbus, OH, Vaughn (Susan) Badger of Renfrew, Ronald Bortmas of Arizona, and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Bortmas and Anna Jean Badger Lefever.
Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, February 2, 2025, 2PM at the Mountville Presbyterian Church, 2795 Mountville Road, Portersville, with Pastor Elija Bombeck, officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Mountville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
