Ruth E. Lloyd Griffin - - - Age: 81
of Prospect, Passed away at her residence Sunday Evening.

She was born December 21, 1921 in Winfield Twp, and was the daughter of William and Stella Freehling Lloyd.

Mrs. Griffin graduated from Slippery Rock Normal School in 1942 as an Elementary School Teacher. She was a teacher at Buffalo Twp. and Winfield Twp. Schools from 1944 to 1949. She was a substitute Teacher in the Butler and Slippery Rock Schools Districts from 1949 to 1960. She then taught 4th grade and was a kindergarten teacher at Portersville and Prospect Elementary Schools in the Slippery Rock School Districts until her retirement in 1979.

Mrs. Griffin along with her husband owned and operated Griffin Farms in Prospect for many years, where she farmed by driving the tractors, and managed the books.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Prospect , where she was a Sunday School Teacher, and the Church Organist and Choir Director from 1981 until she retired in 2001. She also was an ordained elder for 3 years. When she was a young adult she was and active youth leader in Zion Methodist Church in Sarver.

She was a member of the Prospect Women's Club, PA Assoc. of School Retirees, and the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association. She was a Rotary "Partner" to her husband, where she was presented the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, and she was volunteered for many fundraisers. She enjoyed playing the piano at Rotary meetings she attended.

Mrs. Griffin was blessed with the gift of music, she played for the Sarver Community Choir, Sarver Men's Choir, Life Steps Geriatric's Center, and on Sunday afternoons at Sunnyview Home she taught Bible lessons and entertained with playing hymns. She also was a piano teacher at her residence for many years.

She enjoyed traveling, which included literacy Mission Trips to other countries, reading, crocheting, and crossword puzzles.

Survived by: Her husband: Francis R. Griffin whom she married June 26, 1948

- - Linda L. Griffin and her husband Robert W. Alexander, Jr of Prospect.
- - Marcia R. Lutz and her husband N. Rick Lutz of Franklin Twp.
- One Son and Daughter-in-Law: Glenn F. and Connie Griffin of Prospect

- Lisa and Michelle Russo of Franklin Twp.
- Mrs. Michael (Melissa A) Sheets of Shaler Twp.

- Mrs. Eric (Christina) Dufresne of Yokota Air Force Base, Japan
- Richard Lutz of Wampum
1 great grand-son: Cody James Dufresne of Yokota AFB, Japan
2 great grand daughters: Cailey and Chelsey Sheets of Shaler Twp.

Visitation for Mrs. Ruth Griffin, who passed away August 31, 2003 will be held ,Tuesday 6-9pm at FOX FUNERAL HOME, SAXONBURG, and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the EDWARD L RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME, 387 Main Street PROSPECT, with the funeral service Thursday, 11:00 AM at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect, with the Rev. Daniel Reuter, her church pastor officiating.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Prospect.
