Roger Neal Leight, age 65, of Prospect, peacefully passed away on the evening of August 10, 2023, with his wife by his side, at his residence following a courageous 5 year battle with cancer.
Born May 19, 1958 in Quakertown, Bucks County, Pa; he was the son of the late Clarence and Betty Hunsberger Leight, Jr.
He was a member of the Jubilee Ministries International Church, Butler.
He had worked for 25 years handling financial services and pension plans for PRIMERCA Insurance and Investment Company, and then in the last five years, he retired from working as a landman for the gas and oil wells in and around the tri state area.
Roger enjoyed living in western PA where he was an avid hunter and fisherman, always wearing his camo clothing. He was a history buff of all subjects, and especially enjoyed studying airplanes inside and out.
He will be remembered for telling and writing stories. He was a published author of his novel Genieve, which is historical fiction.
He is survived by his wife June Venita Martel Leight, who he married November 25, 2013; son Michael Roger Leight of Rochester; three brothers Ronald (Linda) Leight of Pennsburg, PA; Larry (Bonnie) Leight and James (Patty) Leight all of Coopersburg, PA; six nephews, three nieces; and his beloved dogs Chally and Rango.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Linda Ferguson.
The Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 21, 2023 at 6PM in the Church. Please turn at the sign Cornfield Chaple, 222 Rieger Road, Butler PA 16001.
Cremation services have been entrusted to the Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, pc., located at 387 Main Street, Prospect. Under the direction of Keri Anne Raisley, Funeral Director and Supervisor.
