William N. Sarver

December 29, 1926 ~ January 11, 2015 (age 88) 88 Years Old


William Nelson Sarver, age 88, of Prospect passed away early Sunday morning, January 11, 2015, at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

Born December 29, 1926 in Butler, he was the son of the late William Murphy and Dolly McKissick Sarver.

Bill was a US Army Veteran, who proudly served our country from January 1946 to July 1947.  He belonged to the Critchlow-Hays American Legion Post 417, Prospect.

After 20 years, he retired as a crane operator from Marmon/Keystone Tubular in Butler.

A Prospect Borough resident since 1960, he was well known for his involvement with his community.  He worked on the road maintenance crew, served as former Mayor, worked as a the borough Police Officer, and enjoyed volunteering with the Prospect clean up days.

For over 20 years, you would see Bill working at the Big Butler Fair as the head of security. 

Bill enjoyed tinkering around the house, making things for his grandchildren, and visiting local restaurants, especially Roxy’s Diner and the former Garden Gate.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Agnes Kirk Sarver, who he married August 7, 1954; son William “Bud” (Connie) Sarver of Prospect; his grandchildren Zachary (Kristin) Sarver of Hermitage, Travis (Abby) Sarver of Volant, Jill Ann (Joseph) Klipa of Plum Boro; three great grandchildren Joseph Klipa, Jr., Mara Klipa, Caden Sarver; siblings John (Dory) Sarver, Ed (Connie) Sarver, Ralph (Diane) Sarver, Raymond (Linda) Sarver all of Butler, Ron (Jill) Sarver of Riverside, CA, Dolly (Mickey) Rubin of New Castle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Billie Diane Monk, two brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan 13, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main Street, Prospect.  The funeral service will be Wednesday, Jan 14, 2015, 11am in the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Curtis, pastor of Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Prospect.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
