John R. Eckert, Jr.

John R. Eckert, Jr., Butler (Franklin Twp.) passed away unexpectedly at his residence early Thursday morning March 28, 2019.  He was 39.

John was born in Butler on October 29, 1979 a son of John R. and Charlene M. (Herold) Eckert, Sr. , prior to his having become disabled, John was a landscaper and took great pride in the work he had done.   He loved his family, especially his children and his granddaughter and enjoyed being a part of their lives.  John enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found hiking the trail’s in the McConnell’s  Mills State Park and Moraine State Park area.  He also enjoyed participating in basketball, football, and soccer games.  John was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. John showed great determination fighting against a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease. He attended the Presbyterian Church of Prospect.

John is survived by his parents, John R. and Charlene M. Eckert, Sr., Butler; 2 children, Sierra M. Eckert, Clintonville and Dustin R. Eckert, Hilliards; his granddaughter, Briella E. Premdas of Clintonville; a special buddy, Jayden M. Oesterling, Parker; his maternal grandmother, Betty Herold, Prospect; a brother Dustin L. Eckert, Millersburg, OH; a nephew, Caleb C. Eckert along with many aunts and uncles and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Jewell Eckert and his maternal grandfather, Clarence W. Herold, Jr.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect, 115 Church Street, Prospect with Rev. Steve Cort and Rev. Ron Schermerhorn co-officiating.  John will be laid to rest at the Crown Hill Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main Street, Prospect on Sunday from 2:00 -4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm and on Monday at the church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am when the service begins.
