Dorothy Breitenstein Obituary

Dorothy Rose Brunner Breitenstein, age 79, of Portersville, passed away January 25, 2024 at her residence.

Born March 29, 1944 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Albert S. and Rose Marie Waronsky Brunner.

She was a faithful member of the New Life Baptist Church, where she participated in the Young At Heart.

She retired from the United States Postal Service Bulk Mail Center in Cranberry Twp.

Dorothy enjoyed nature and the outdoors; where she loved gardening, growing flowers, fishing, and feeding wild animals at her door.  She was an artist and enjoyed making Ukrainian pysanky eggs.  She will be remembered for entertaining the family with cooking meals and making sure no one ever left hungry.  She enjoyed time with her family, and especially her grandkids and great grandkids.

She is survived by her children Jeffrey (Rebecca) Breitenstein of Grove City, Lorraine (Rick) Breitenstein Peterson of New Castle, Steven Breitenstein of Polk; twelve grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Breitenstein, Jr.; son Frank James Breitenstein; and two sisters Janice Matoka and Eleanor Wuerger.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 11am to 1pm at the New Life Baptist Church, 3414 State Route 208, New Wilmington.  The funeral service will be in the church, 1pm, with Rev. Ron Nagel and Rev. Tim Fair, co-officiating.   

Interment will be in Mt Herman Cemetery, Princeton.

Memorial contribution may be made to her church missionary project at New Life Baptist Church, PO Box 258, New Wilmington, PA 16142.
