Roy “Corky” Rodgers Baumann, age 76, of Butler, passed away Friday December 30, 2022 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a brief illness.
Born June 29, 1946 in Allegheny County; he was the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Winzeried Baumann.
Roy was a US Marine Veteran who faithfully served his country from 1965 to 1967.
He retired as an elevator mechanic, where he had worked many jobs from Pittsburgh to Washington DC.
Corky enjoyed his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and building projects out of wood.
He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Hirko Baumann, whom he married September 7, 1979; his children Cheryl (Jason) Guenther of Prospect, James (Maria) Baumann of Monroeville, Roberta (Preston) Batman of Oregon, Glenn (Lauren) Baumann of Pittsburgh, Raymond (Kimberly) Baumann Linesville; his local grandchildren Kyle, Erika, Isaac, Zanah, Rylan, Samantha, Nicole and many more grandchildren; great grandchildren Kolton, Jaxon, Caidyn, Riley; his in laws Frank Patterson, George Patterson, Mary Lind, John Hirko, Sandra Hinterlang; and the “good son” Ryan Groom.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, and one sister in law.
Graveside services with military honors, by the Bantam Marine Corps League Detachment #743 of Butler, will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2022, 1pm at Greenlawn Burial Estates, 731 W Old Rt 422, Butler. Rev. Tara Lynn, pastor of Emmanual Lutheran Church, Prospect, will officiate.
Services were entrusted to the Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main Street, Prospect.
